Internal Corrosion is caused by (sea) water penetrating inside the steel piles. Internal corrosion of the steel piles is probably for most jetty installations an overlooked cause of corrosion.

Without treatment this Internal corrosion will reduce the steel wallthickness of the piles from the inside.

Internal corrosion can be treated by taking out samples of the water from inside every pile and perform an analyses of the contains as the oxygen levels and other substances.

Based on this analyses a special Denso Inhibitor liquid will be mixed and prepared to be inserted inside the steel piles. This Denso Inhibitor liquid will stop and prevent further corrosion of the steel piles from the inside.

In the picture above a sample is taking out of a steel pile for further analyses.

The correct determent corrosion Denso Inhibitor liquid contents is later on brought back in the same way inside the piles.

It is recommendable to run new sample tests every 3 years. The results will determine if additional Denso Inhibitors have to be added.

For existing jetty piles we can conduct a survey by our experienced engineers to do a comprehensive analysis of the installation at your site and advise you what needs to be done to extend the lifetime of the jetty piles in case the current protection is not adequate.
